Awareness Campaign on Deceased Organ Donation at Assam Book Fair ,  Khanapara from 24th December,2025 to 6th January,2026.

An awareness campaign on Deceased Organ donation was carried out at Assam Book Fair from 24th December, 2025 to 6th January, 2026. This awareness campaign aimed to educate and encourage pledge taking registration amongst the book fair visitors.

Organ Donation at Assam Book Fair

The interactive stall featured -displays of the Deceased donors of Assam, about the organization and its various activities, message from Shri Narendra Modi, Honourable Prime Minister of India, messages from Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Honourable Chief Minister of Assam and the information on the organs which can be donated, engaging audio visual spots .  A literature shelf was also placed which displayed the brochures and articles on Deceased organ Donation.

This awareness campaign provided opportunity to have one to one interaction with around 500 visitors

Visitors inquiring at the Awareness Stall

The awareness stall promoted registration drive for on spot pledge taking. And the persons who registered for pledges were felicitated with an Assamese Gamosa at the stall.

Visitors from various walks of life visited this awareness stall. Some of the prominent visitors included-

Sahitya Academy Awardee Anuradha Sharma Pujari, editor and writer from Assam( 2nd Right)

Dr. Anjanjyoti Choudhury, practicing Pathologist/ Physician in Guwahati, and as an accomplished Singer and Writer of Assamese music (2nd Right)

Wildlife Biologist Dr. Rathin Barman ,Chief Strategy and Liaison (North-East), Wildlife Trust of India

Mrigen Sarania, Mayor, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (Middle)

Dr. Anjanjyoti Choudhury, practicing Pathologist/ Physician in Guwahati, and as an accomplished Singer and Writer of Assamese music (2nd Right)

Mayur Bora, Noted writer, critic and public speaker from Assam (3rd from the left) and Trinayan Handique, writer from Assam (4th from the left)

The mascot of Elephant was engaged to spread messages to the visitors through infotainment about deceased organ donation.

Electronic Media NK TV on 4th January, 2026 and All India Radio, Guwahati Branch on 5th January,2026 broadcasted program on Deceased Organ Donation during this campaign period.

Visits from the administration

Dr. (Prof) Abhijit Sarma, ED, NHM, Assam cum Nodal Officer, ROTTO Guwahati, Dr. (Prof) Joydev Sarma, Vice Principal, GMCH and other faculties of GMCH inspired with visiting the stall.

During this campaign period 145 nos of pledges were registered.
